Hi, I'm new. In April of last year (2023) I got my first 5 baby chicks. They have grown into 5 of the most wonderful Speckled Sussex hens. Each of them have such unique and friendly personalities. Parmesan is my friendliest hen of the bunch and she is also my talker of the flock. The others are Marsala, Nugget, Noodle, and Glenda.

This past February I added 3 more chicks. They are 18 weeks old right now. They are three different breeds, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, a Buff Orphington, and a Plymouth Barred Rock. They were all suppose to be pullets, but the Wyandotte looks like a cockeral to me, the barred rock is a pullet, and the buff orphington is a mystery. The Wyandotte is named D1, since he is a difficult little guy at times, the barred rock is Quiche and the buff orphington is Omelette.

I have really enjoyed having my chickens. They have brought me so much joy. And also my hens lay the best eggs I have ever eaten, so that is a bonus!

I also have a dog who absolutely adores my chickens and is on the bottom of their pecking order, haha. Usually I can be found in the backyard in the garden and spending time with my chickens and dog. I also really enjoy baking, cooking, sewing, and crocheting.

I found this forum on google and have finally decided to join. It is nice to meet everyone.

Thanks!

This is D1, who I think is a cockeral. He is very stand-offish and I can’t get a much better picture of him.

Here is a picture of Omelette and Quiche together.

These are some close up pictures of Omelettes neck feathers and tail feathers.

Fun top view of the tail feathers. These feathers are fluffier than any of my other chickens have.
