Hello , i am new here my name is Annette . I just love reading your posts and messages , they give me so much ideas for my pekins!

We were just finished building our coop when my one hen started to incubate on 9 eggs! Three weeks later the eggs started to hatch. 8 came out , 3 died and 5 are very lucky to be alive( its winter here).

I just hope i make a lot of friends here!
I hope i don't sound too bad for a afrikaans girl from
South - Africa!

Annette.

Welcome and congrats on your babies!

Welcome to BYC. Congrats on your new coop, and pekings. They are all so cute when they are little, and very pretty as large ducks! If you can....we would all LOVE to see pictures of your coop and duckies! GOOD LUCK on the exam!!

Hi Annette. Welcome. Congratulations on your new babies. So it is winter there in Africa. It is summer here in the US. and getting hot. Just wondering how cold is it there now? Good Luck on your exam.

Welcome to BYC! I love to hear of such young folks getting into this fun hobby. I believe the Pekins you refer to are called Cochins over here, feather-footed chickens, maybe the bantam size? Do you show your birds or just keep them as pets? Is it very cold where you are now? Snow? Pekins are very cold hardy birds, they should come through the winter just fine if they have a warm dry coop. I hope to see you here often! Good luck on your exam!

I grew up in South Africa, for about 10 years in Natal (Amanzimtoti) and about the same in East London. Where are you?

Ek kan nie so goed Afrikaans praat nie, ek het niks gese in tien yaar.....

I've been in California for 10 years!

Have a LEKKER day
