Hi I'm a newbe from Suffolk England

I'm in the planning stages of getting chickens. Just so confused what type of breed to get. They will be in a run unless I'm in the garden with them as there are many dogs and cats around.
I'd also like to rear a few chicks
I'm still reading up too!!
So how many in a normal size garden?
Cockerel or No Cockeral?
Breed of chicken??
Feed?
Would I need an incubator or would mummy chicken do this?
Gosh lots of questions very exciting times ahead
