Hello to all the BYC Members!
I first like to thank all of you for welcoming me into what appears to be a GREAT site if you LOVE your chickens and birds! I should start off by maybe telling you that I am disabled so sometimes what I am thinking does not come out properly when I am typing and word check I have found out can only do so much for you! LOL! :) So sorry if some things sound a little funny. When I was younger I was not allowed to have a dog or cat like my friends, but I was allowed to have chickens, and ducks. Now at first I did not like this,..but then I realize WHAT wonderful PETS these animals made, AND ALL WERE NAMED! I had over 30+ of my original stock, and I would sell in the spring to make money on the side. I would come home and do my homework really fast just so I could go spend time with my friends. Cleaning their pens was NOT a chore to me,....it was a way for me to bond with them. I only had 1 HUMAN friend at the time that truly understood my love of these animals, she lived down the road and amazingly we are STILL best friends to this day. We would spend hours down at my coop dreaming and telling secrets to each other,....so flash into the future 40 years later. I did the most of the educational thing then went into the cooperate world and was a HR Directer for several years. Then came the first Mini Stroke (TIA) Then the next,..then the continuous pain they could not find out where it was coming from, this went on for 3 years, in that time I started having Grand Mal seizures. Then I got the Diagnosis of Lupus. With this of course came depression,..While I did not truly feel sorry for myself, gosh knows their are others that have it so MUCH WORSE THEN I,...I did not seem to find pleasure in anything anymore. Even my 3 beloved dogs, could not bring me out of my funk! So I started thinking about this and talking to my husband and my friend,....what was it in my life that had brought me pleasure in the past. CHICKENS!!

So in Feb. while reading on a local FB site I saw where a hardware store had Buff Orphaningtons chicks (Sorry even spell check didn't know this one! LOL!!) Now I had a couple of these in the past always laid me the best double yolk brown eggs you could ask for. So my husband one morning says lets go out to eat breakfast,...little did I know, after we left from there he drove me straight up to the store and says lets go get you some babies! I got 5, Henny, Blondie, Darlin, Blinky, and Chicky (My Grand daughter named them for me

) so they are now about 12-13 weeks they are currently in a 6x6X6 cage in our screened in back porch while we are building their permanent yard and coop.
Although, with losing so MUCH of my brain function because of this mess, thanks to technology and sites like this,...I hope to have VERY HAPPY CHICKENS!!
Hoping to talk with a lot of you soon, and get some advice!
