Hi everyone,

My name's Georgie.

I had my first pet chicken at the age of 6, her name was Henny Penny. When I moved into my first house with a garden seven years ago, I got my first little chicken family; Fannie, Minnie and Beryl, all (wheaten marans) and were adopted from a rescue home. We lost Beryl two years in from natural causes (she was always a little weak and poorly), Minnie and Fannie lived very happily together for the next few years and then Minnie got fluid in her abdomen from organ failure. I manually drained her myself a few times and she survived about 6 months of relatively good quality of life. Fannie was left distraught after Minnie died, which prompted us to rush out and rescue another chicken to keep her company, so we got 'little Chick' who shrieks like a banshee and hates humans😂. We have had her about a year and then all of a sudden recently, Fanny got poorly and went downhill very quickly. She was five years old and had a lovely life, it was very sad to say goodbye as she was always 'my girl'. Now left with Little chick, screaming her lonely head off every day we realised we needed to get some friends for her.. I have recently discovered Seramas and was keen to get a couple., Well we went to see two and came back with four hens, Yin and Yang the seramas and Lavender and Debbie (lavender and white peking bantams). It's the middle of winter here in the UK and as they were only 13 weeks old we had to make a pen and a cage for them to live in our car port for the next couple of months. They are now 24 weeks and I am at the point where I am building an outdoor run and the pekings can go in the outdoor coop with 'little Chick'. They are all keeping me on my toes, It's like a chicken creche in our car port and I'm exhausted, but I love all of them and wouldn't ever be without my chickens!

I am an Aromatherapist and like to use herbal and natural remedies where possible in everything I do. I also have a cat called Friday and a large goldfish pond.
My dream is to one day, adopt a pet turkey. I live in Norfolk, on the east coast of England UK and was brought up in the countryside. I am vegetarian/plant based and enjoy cooking, yoga and tai-chi.

I have often referred to this website community for answers to chicken issues and it's been really helpful. I have a little issue with Lavender's skin at the moment and I am looking for some help with this.
