I am not new to having chickens, but, new to hatching and selecting breeds. I have had chickens that people have given me, but now I am trying to be selective. My husband likes a variety of chickens to look at. I have an incubator with an egg turner. I have hatched some eggs from our chickens. I just bought 3 dozen eggs from a website and just put them in the incubator today. Shipping was very expensive. Live chicks are even more expensive to ship. I would like to find a place in Central Texas to purchase chicks and eggs. I have a very Large back yard with several divided pens. I live in Lockhart which is SE of Austin. Anyone have any info on where I can purchase Chicks and Eggs locally. I haven't been too pleased with the quality of Callahans lateley.

I too, love a big varity in my flock. I have 8 chickens with 7 different breeds. I don't know anyone in your area, but I hope someone does. It wasn't easy for us either to find someone selling chicks locally. It is very nice to find a store with several breeds and willing to order a special breed if needed. Good luck with your search.
