Hi there! Welcome; glad you decided to join. I am sorry for your losses. There is a lot of helpful information on here about how to make a coop, run, or tractor predator resistant. It hurts to lose them to the darn raccoons, stray dogs, coyotes, skunks, hawks, or any of the other predators who want a nice fresh "chicken dinner". I'm sure you will be able to find some suggestions for helping keep your current ones safer. You'll also find many, many friendly people on here whose company is quite enjoyable. Sit back and visit for a spell!

from Ohio. So glad you joined. If spunky is a roo, it should be fine. Any chicks that could hatch from his matings should be perfectly healthy, just considered mutts, just like in dogs and there is nothing wrong with that. If you don't want any babies, just eat they eggs.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!
I will stay in touch and hopefully get photos this
summer. Spunky is a rooster. It's so funny to watch him
strut around trying to look so macho but when mama isn't within
eyesight he starts twittering/chirping " hey, ma where you'd go?"
Chicks do grow up fast and learn quickly. It's amazing to watch
them learn from their mother. I am fortunate to have been found
by a chicken.
