I have a different flock of chickens this time. I thought I would post some pics (there's a lot of them!) In this coop, there are 8 chickens--supposed to be 2 roos and 6 hens, but think there is 1 roo and 7 hens. My hubby built the nest house and the open area. The greenish/blue pvc tube is the waterer, the long white one is the feeder.
These two pics are of my Bearded lady.

These two pics are of the same chicken, not sure what breed it is.

These two pics are of the one I call Oreo.

These three pics are of all of them (I think..one might have been behind me)

This pic is of the first 3 nest boxes--they sit in them. I MIGHT have found one egg in one.

This pic is of 3 of the boxes they use all the time.

This blurry one is of 3 boxes they don't use.

This one is of the last 3 boxes they do use.

I'm glad you joined our community.

You have some beautiful birds! Good luck with them.

Even if nest boxes are identical hens will usually just use the same few over and over, even waiting in line to do so. Generally 1 nest box to 3 hens is enough because of this practice.

I wasn't sure how many we'd need...originally we had our 4 leghorns with the other 8 (plus we had two leghorns males die--so we had a total of 14 chickens at the beginning) and hubby thought one box for each chicken. I'm not worried about them using them..just didn't think about them sharing boxes. :)
