I'm new to having chickens. I got my chicks online & they're just about 22 wks, so 5 1/2 months. I ordered 25 sexed & got 2 free unsexed. They all survived & are thriving. They started laying about a month ago. As of today, we're up to 12 laying. I'm not sure of all the breeds but I know I have7 Leghorns (1 is a rooster) 1 Buff Laced Polish, 1 Black Cochin ( I think) 2 RI Reds & I have absolutely no idea what the rest are. I have to say, I'm enjoying taking care of them. I honestly thought I'd hate it & end up giving them up, but they're fairly easy & I find my stress level is lower while I'm out in the run with them doing whatever. I'm a recent photography & advertising/graphic design A.A.S. graduate, but right now it's just a hobby. I'm yankee transplant to SC but we've been 16 yrs now. I've got 3 kids, 3 dogs, 5 inside cats & 5 outside cats so I'm kept pretty busy. I found BYC through google when doing research & I'm just getting around to joining. I have questions, need answers, & would like to gain general knowledge about chickens. What better place to pose those questions & acquire knowledge?.

I got them as chicks. They were born in march. I'm just a little slow in getting to BYC. I'll see if I can get them to stay still long enough for a non-blurry pic.
