1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I’m new to them! Got my first ones March 14, 2023.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 5, will have 8 total by next weekend!
(3) What breeds do you have? Blue Plymouths, Rhode Island blue (production blue), speckled Sussex (adding Easter eggers next week)

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? The fun and learning they bring. They are beautiful animals.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Writing, homeschooling my kids, acts of service (my love language is cooking and cleaning)
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We’re a family of 4. 2 beta fish. I’m a freelancer. I love my life and hope to learn a lot from being a chicken tender! My kids love them too.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D googling extensively all of my questions before I even got my chickens. Studied them for 2 years before making the move!

Hello, welcome to BYC! This is a great place to ask questions and hang out 😊. It’s nice to see someone who did research before buying chickens for a change! I love Speckled Sussex, they are beautiful birds.
They’re starting to make the most adorable chatter chicken noises. I love them! Though they are not as cuddly as my other breeds lol. That’s okay though I think they will be more cuddly as they grow!
