Hi everyone- I've spent a lot of time lurking on here ever since I got my gosling a couple of months ago. I also had a batch of ten guinea keets that unfortunately I was not educated enough on and lost all of them to a fox (which, really, they should not have even been outside yet). I have reinforced the pen with buried pieces of concrete from a walkway that we just dug up, but I am still paranoid about even putting goose in there at night, even though she was in there during the guinea massacre and they didn't touch her (thank goodness). Right now she comes in the house at night and sleeps in a dog kennel, and I think she is very happy with that arrangement except for not being able to stretch her wings at night. The first thing she does when I let her out in the morning is hop around flapping. She's a sweetheart and quite attached to me; she's started flying this week and tries to follow me on my morning runs but tires too quickly and I make her go home.
I also now have 30 more keets that are living in an XL dog kennel on my front enclosed uninsulated porch. 32 were sent (through efowl.com but from cackle hatchery in MO) but 2 have passed away over the past week so I am down to just the 30 that I ordered. Anyway, I will post more in respective forums, but for now I want to say hi and thank you all for the information and entertainment I have seen so far.
