Im new here i have several free range old english chickens we raise for eggs 6 ducks and 1 chinese brown goose named goosy lucy lol i joined to try and find her a mate its so sad to see her letting my much smaller male ducks try and mate her, its also kinda funny, then she gos and lays an egg which i remove because she will sit to try and hatch it.she wont budge off that egg either i let her nest just to see how long she would stay one time it was quite awhile she sat, she got visibly under weight so i shooed her off the nest and took the old eggs away now i collect them and give them away to my nephew for omlets lol. it would be nice to let her have a few babies she mothers my ducks even though they are full grown lol. we live here in concan tx with a few dogs and cat 2 spoiled quaker parrots a mini donkey named nester and brenda sue the rescued pot bellied pig.

from North MS! I had a stray Brown Chinese Goose swim up with a bunch of Canada Geese. They migrated and she didn't.......she became mother goose to my 6 Rouen ducks. She started stealing their eggs and went broody. She did just as you said lost alot of weight. I pulled all the eggs out from under her but she just found the next days and sat again. I finally got a sharpie, marked one egg and gave it to her. I moved her into the chicken coop to keep her safe and that crazy fosse hatched a duck. Sweetest thing I have ever seen.....baby duck on the back of momma goose! I miss my Knothead! I lost her to a fox last fall
