I'm new here. I have a small flock of chickens. Right now I have 8 as one of my girls (I call her Miss Broody) is off sitting on a nest of eggs at a friends house.
My flock is in a enclosed area within my garden. In the fall when the garden is spent for the year I let them out to roam the whole area.
I love my chickens and I sell eggs to my neighbors on both sides of me. Try as I might I can't seem to get them to give the ladies their kitchen scraps. But I feed them all our scraps, the weeds from the garden and any over abundance from the garden. When we mow some of the grass goes in there too.
I love to go out and pick up one of the girls and hold her for a while. I would say they are spoiled :-)

I have three of each Buff Orrington, Delaware and Dominique. It's one of the Buff's that is broody.

I'm not at all sure how to post a picture here but I'm sure I'll get it figured out and post a picture of the girls.


I have other hobbies, including quilting, reading and of course gardening.

Welcome to BYC, Vicky! You have a good mix of chickens. I especially like Buff Orpingtons as they are beautiful, calm, and gentle, and for those reasons, I keep a few of them in my flock. Good luck with your flock.

Sounds like you have a lovely flock and you are enjoying them greatly!

Posting pics is very easy if you are on your pc. While you are in this reply box, click on that little icon that looks like a scene. (2 to the left of the smile face). It says Insert Image. That will open up a window where you will click on Upload Files. That will lead you to your pc's pics. Select a pic, click on the open at the bottom and that will load it here. Then click the submit button and that will load it here on this page. Easy peasy.
