I'm new to this forum. My girls and I have been raising ducks for the last two years. They take them to the fair, etc. My daughter just bought some Mandarin ducks. one pair. Thus far, we raise Silver Appleyards, miniature silver appleyards, spotted australian bantams, and rhouns. We had a few pekins we gave away, and a couple of muscovy we butchered, and a few Indian Runners, but the fox got them. We let them free range during the day and they are locked up in kennels at night. Starting last week, they don't get let out anymore because the days are too short and often its too late when we go to put them back in. They go back in their kennels by themselves, but I'm afraid we'll get there too late. We had some trouble with racoons and finally got that problem solved. Live-trapped them and took them far away.
Anyway, we are looking to raise some turkeys and chickens next year also.
