Hi, Loving all the info on this site and seeing everyones pictures/advice. Became interested in last few months and I am ready
to adopt a chicken. Having trouble finding a place to purchase 1 female preferable a bantam
breed. Most people want to sell a dozen & cannot guarantee male/female but continue
to be hopeful the right one will come along ! I live in the Plymouth, MA area.

You may be able to find something on Craig's List. I have found several on this site in my area, adult and chicks. You may also try to check any local farm center or feed and seed store.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Chickens are very social, and do better in small groups - you may want to get 2 or 3 for the chicken's sake. Your state thread here on BYC is another good place to post.

Thank you to all of you who replied ! I may have a lead on
one finally ! Will post pictures and continue to check all
the great stories on site.

Do you have other chickens to keep one company if you find one? A lone chicken is generally going to be a lonely miserable bird, and unless you plan on spending hours with it everyday it's pretty cruel to just have one.
