Hello everyone!! I am Mandie. I have to say I LOVE this site! I have been doing lots of research here before joining, preparing for the arrival of my babies that I just got TODAY! This site has been sooo helpful, I've book marked more pages than I can count and whenever I think of a question I always come here. So thank you everyone for your great conversation!

I told myself I'd join the day I got my chicks so here I am. It was kind of like my own initiation thing. Silly :) This is my first time having any kind of bird and it's so exciting. I got 5 Silkie chicks today and they are sooo adorable, I can already see little personalities in them and I just love their little feet. I had never seen them before last year (I grew up in the city) I was watching doomsday preppers and saw this adorable tiny fluffy chicken and I knew I loved them. After the man explained how sweet they are I was sold. I hope to get more in the future!

Thank you Wyandottes7! I absolutely love all of the knowledge people share here. I'm glad I waited and seriously read hundreds of posts here. Now I feel like a super silkie mamma! I can't stop watching them. They're so silly!I picked them up this morning and it seems like they are already changing in appearance. Strange!

Beautiful chicks, especially the one staring down the camera, last photo. BYC has several dedicated silkie threads. My favorite is simply "Silkie thread." if you put that in the search box, it should pop up. You will find loads of pictures there and a lot of silkie folks to correspond with. Welcome to Backyard chickens.
