Hi
I'm new to the community of chickens. I have had scotties for 20 years and cats. I've shown Quarter Horses but never have I raised a flock of any thing. Already I have found answers to important questions here so I decided I needed to be an official part of this community. I have 6 chickens right now all different breeds. I plan to add up to 4 more. I would already have them but the breeds I want are scarce right now. My neighbors think I'm crazy. I have named all 6 girls and I take the best care of them as I possibly can. I live in the unbelievable hot and humid heat of south Louisiana and summer has set in. I have made every effort I have read about to keep my girls comfortable. A few days ago I was in my coop putting my girls to bed for the night (I close them in the hen house at night for safety). I was doing my usual crooning, talking and singing -
eek
- my girls to bed when I turned around to see my neighbor standing at my fence grinning. He thinks I've lost it. I guess I have in a way. I never thought I could bond with chickens but I just love them.

My Scotties are Maggie and Angus. Cats are Will and Sam.
Well that's as much as I can think of right now for an intro . I hope to make some friends and get awesome advise on here
