Hi!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’m busted! I don’t have chickens. I have quail—quail eggs to be exact. I first got quail in college, but haven’t had them in years until now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 30 quail eggs in my incubator.
(3) What breeds do you have?
The quail will be a variety (different colors) of non-jumbo coturnix.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
When I last had quail I loved their call. To me they sounded like a seagull in the distance.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening & metal stamping.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a big animal lover. We have dogs, guinea pigs, a cat, a rabbit, a turtle, snake, and leopard gecko. We also have a (pet) rat, 3 mean parakeets, and assorted gold fish and crayfish with the turtle.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve known about BYC for years, but since I didn’t have any chickens I just liked reading some of the threads. I finally decided to join because I finally got quail again!
