Sorry, forgot to say if your a gardener or you know gardeners, compost your chicken poop. It's is a wonderful fertilizer! I was buying chicken poo fertilizer for my roses for years, now I started a compost bin and will use that on my garden. Compost for 3 to 6 months, and when it's ready it should not smell like poop anymore. It can also be used for edible plants after composting. There are threads here about composting and gardening but I don't know how to link them yet. Google can also be helpful. So gardening and chickens go naturally together. Just know that chickens scratch and can pull up small plants. I will fence mine out of my herb garden and strawberry patch to protect the plants. But I plan on making a small garden just for my chickens to eat and dig in so they can have fun.
There are also places that list plants chickens love to eat here somewhere. There is a website called grandma's that I use for herbal remedies such as hot toddies and teas for human illnesses, it lists the herbs and it's medicinal properties. I am attempting to use the information from grandma's to make my chicken garden by cross referncing with the information here. But kind of slow going with my kids and animals requiring so much of my time. My goal is a garden that will help keep my chickens healthy without medicated feed.
I hope that helps in your quest for the "green" experiance! It's a great experiance, I love going into my garden, picking something and being able to eat it right there. No pesticides, no chemicals, and all healthy. Plus the satisfaction of knowing I grew it and provided that food for my family, wonderful feeling.
