Hey you guys and gals. My name is Maria and I am a mother of two human children and 1 bantam hen and 1 bantam rooster and 1 duckling. I'm looking forward to exploring this website and finding new information of my poultry family.

Sounds like you have some experience already. You will learn more though, right here. :) Got to your state thread and have fun there too.

Hi :welcome Maria

Glad you could join the flock! What breed/s are your bantams? I have polish bantams. You might like to think about adding some more hens to your roo. Having just one hen with a roo may cause him to overbreed her and cause her some damage. A great excuse I always think to add more to your flock!!

Have you checked out the learning centre? Lots of great articles on a all aspects of keeping your birds happy and healthy. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future. Be sure to ask any questions that you may have. Everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC :frow

Thanks for the greetings. I'm not sure of the breed of both of them. The hen is all white. The rooster is reddish brown and gray tail feathers. I will post pics later on this thread and on the section about what breed are they. I've tried getting new chicks but both of them get very aggressive. Even with my duckling they try to attack him.

Hi Maria, welcome to BYC!

Yorkshire Coop is right about the need to add more chickens to prevent the roo from stressing out the hen. There's a process to integrating new birds into an existing flock that will help relieve the aggressiveness you mention.

Here's a very good article from the Learning Center that details the steps, basically you first quarantine and then you do the "look but don't touch" to give everyone a chance to get used to each other. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock

Good luck to you, if you have questions feel free to ask.

glad you have joined us.

@NorthFLChick has given you the link to adding to your flock.

Do post the pics of the 2 in question and post under "what breed, gender" forum to get opines on the breeds.

Good luck with your flock.
