Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies!

Glad to meet you, Amber. You can get a lot of info here just by asking, but you can also get really good articles that may answer lots and tell you things you didn't even know to ask. To find articles here, use the SEARCH bar, but choose Advanced Search, and then select Articles at the top of the box it gives you. Then enter your key word(s) and search.

All the articles are written by BYC members or administrators. They are also reviewed by members as well. I like the ratings/reviews. It helps me choose the most useful articles, and sometimes the reviews will add useful comments that go beyond the original article.

Hi, My Name is Amber and I just joined your community to learn a little more about caring for my backyard flock. I live in the NW FL panhandle area and currently have 9 laying hens (2 Leghorns, 3 Easter Eggers, 2 Dominiques, 2 Cuckoo Marans). We moved to a rural home back in April that already had an existing coop that was in great condition, so I got 8 chicks in the middle of April at the local Tractor Supply store. Recently I bought 2 laying hens (the Cuckoo Marans) to add to my flock. I have one Dominique Rooster as well. Me and my family love raising chickens and I am always trying to learn more about how to best care for my chickens. Thank you for letting me ask questions here, I have been doing a lot of reading on this site & it appears there is a lot of excellent resources here.
