(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We had chickens for four years until about four years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We picked up 11 chicks and three ducklings just a few days ago.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Ummm. A lot! I love variety so I got one of each kind.
Amberlink, black sex link, Isa brown, Rhode Island red, white leghorn, Americana, gold laced Wyandotte, light Brahma, speckled Sussex, Painted Sussex.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Well, eggs of course. Also just the idea of raising your own food, combined with the joy of the chickens themselves. They are entertaining!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m an RN having worked orthopedics, ER, and family medicine. My passion is for ER, but family medicine lends a nicer schedule
We have a Heeler, Corgi, 3 barn cats and 2 horses.
Also, I loooove gardening. Looking forward to planting a little herb garden for the hens!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I first learned about BYC while Google searching when I had chickens the last time. I found it very helpful and decided to finally join today when I needed to make a post of my own. A sad one.
