Hey all, it was recommended in my “getting started” to introduce myself, so here I am!
I know of some quail keepers nearby, and thought of them initially, may still mess with them, idk.
Planning on doing a lot of reading and making little diagrams and drawings, etc, looking forward to checking it out here!
Oh! I’m in the Midwest and am in my 30s, female pronouns are fine

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
have not had chickens as an adult; was around them a lot as a kid! Our area is allowing some limited chicken raising, and I have interest in them for eggs and potential meat production (which I understand can be a whole separate thing so I’m in no rush for any of it).
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None
(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I really like chickens, I think they’re neat little guys. I think it’s a better option than industrial-scale meats and eggs. Also helps with home gardening.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Oh jeez, what *isn’t.* Art, music, history, these are all huge categories but I’m always trying to learn something new.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’ve got a bit of a zoo at home, handful of cats and dogs.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Joined semi-recently, I think I knew about this place for a year or so, learning I could actually keep birds where I’m at.
