Hi there,
I frequently stop by for answers to questions, I figure that I'm here often enough I might as well join and contribute sometime.the introduction juices flow:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My family raised showclass Rhode Islands and barred rock Plymouth while I was growing up, now we just have chickens for eggs and as pets.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
2, one elderly barred rock (Dumplin') who graces us with an egg a day and one Red Comet that acts like she's feral even though we've had her since a chick.
(3) What breeds do you have?
See above
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh eggs, entertainment, letting children (and some adults) pet them when they've never seen one alive before, it's a delight watching their faces as they find out chickens are soft.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Hiking, geocaching, baking and sewing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have a few cats, mostly calicos, one coati that hangs around and my parents and brother.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found by byc while trying to figure out how to treat chicken that was stung by a bee. (And apparently allergic)
