Not sure if I'm doing this right.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Very new, random occurrence, my daughter hatched 2 pheasants from an abandoned nest, one passed away after 2 weeks but the other is still with us (12 weeks old), she was devastated when the one died so some clever person (my grandfather) got her some chicken eggs to incubate.
1 hatched from a dozen eggs, so of course I had to get him/her a friend or as it happened 10 friends.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
9 chickens and a pheasant who thinks its a cat!
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Apenzellers, 2 Pekin x Silkie, 2 Pekin, 1 Speckled Sussex (our hatchling), 1 Wheaten Maran, 1 Silkie, 1 Brahma and 1 Buff Orpington. All between 3 days and 3 weeks old.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Its been a god send, always the first port of call for and answer to my many many queries.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Apart from collecting animals? I spend most of my time helping my grandparents either on the farm or in my nans veg plot.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 2 children 13 and 11, a husband and a spaniel, we are currently living on my grandparents farm as we are waiting to build our own house.
