My name is Heather and I'm new to the chicken world. I've always wanted to raise chicken and now live in an area where I can. I am quickly becoming obsessed with my chicks! Right now I have two silkies- one buff and one black, two New Hamphire/Colombian rock x pullets and one cockerel, and two white leghorns- one pullet and one cockerel , I believe.. I'm afraid I've ended up with more roosters than I would have liked. I guess I'll know for sure when they get a bit older.
I've been browsing the site and I love this online chicken community. I can't wait to learn everything there is to know about chickens. :)

Welcome to BYC, Heather! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

I'm so glad to hear you can have chickens where you live! And I'm glad you are enjoying them! Sounds like you have a great variety of breeds. Sorry that you got more roosters than you had planned on. If you want to double check on their gender, you can post here https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this We are glad you decided to join this community! Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hi Heather, welcome to BYC!

It's always fun to hear from a new chicken enthusiast! Chickens are so interesting and such fun.

If you do end up with 2 roosters, you probably ought to get more pullets. The recommended ratio is 1 roo to 8-10 hens. You don't want your girls stressed from too much attention from the roos.

There is a ton of information here on BYC and some really helpful, friendly members so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

It's nice to have you here!
