Hi all!
We're new to Backyard Chickens and wanted to post a quick introduction!
Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We got chickens in March 2013. We bought six sexed chicks. One (Emelia) died within the first couple of weeks, she just never got any bigger. And another (Ralph) turned out to be a rooster so he and his sister (Red) moved to my in-laws home.
How many chickens do you have right now?
Three very spoiled hens. And we're thinking about getting two more next spring.
What breeds do you have?
Silver Laced Wyandotte (Layla, top of the pecking order), Golden Laced Wyandotte (Blondie, the middle girl), and New Hampshire Red (Ginger, our favorite sweetie)
How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google
We've used it during the many times that we've had questions over the past year.
What are some of your other hobbies?
Organic gardening, reading, collecting comic books, and hunting for vintage and local-made finds. Chickens are definitely the best hobby we've had!
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have a full-size Pomeranian, Sigmund, and a cat, Julie. I work in Market Research and my husband is a Social Worker with the VA's homeless program.
We're learning as we go but are constantly coming up with new questions as our chickens grow up.
Brandi and Shawn
