Just want to say a hello and that I’m so thankful for this community. I’ve been reading the forum for a while now.
A little about me…
I live on 1.5 acres in the rolling hills of central KY with my a wonderful guy who luckily loves animals as much as me. Between us we have 3 dogs, 2 tortoises, a veiled chameleon, 6 ducks, and 8 chickens (7 hens and a rooster).
I’m lucky enough to work from home which gives me more flexibility to attend to my new-found poultry hobby. My 6 ducklings are about 7 weeks old (3 Rouen and 3 Pekin). I bought them as straight run so unsure of their sex yet, but if I had to guess by their voices and the green sheen I’m noticing on the Rouen’s juvenile head feathers, they are all drakes. I just moved them all outside and keep them in my garden area with an electric poultry fence and duck fence.
I was a certified vet tech in my past life/career 15 years ago. I worked in an emergency/specialty hospital for small animals (dogs and cats) but not much in the way of poultry so am really looking to learn from ya’ll.
