Happy to have found the BYC group. We are new to owning chickens and have Guinea fowl (my neighbor say you never really own guineas - you just provide a place for them to eat and sleep which they may or may not take you up on.) We bought 8 pullets: 3 didn’t survive the dogs and cat; one turned out to be a cockerel. So those five are now about six months old now. We then bought four Guinea fowl that were about 4 mo old and all were supposed to be females. Two flew away and never returned; of the remaining two, one is a male (Lavender) and one is female (Pearl - dark grey). The male guinea bullies the cockerel so we haven’t been able to let the chicken free range yet. We also have six keets that are about five weeks old. I call them my Bonehead Babies. I handle them every day but they certainly aren’t cuddly. We enjoy the BYC magazine, Pinterest pins, and reading about everyone’s experiences.
