I got my first 10 chickens 2 weeks ago and it has been a joy and true learning experience.
I have gotten a lot of help from this website and thought I would join the club.
Hope as I learn from y'all, I can be a help to others who are new to all this too.
I do have a question:
One of my chicks has been constipated. I gave it a warm, butt bath twice and it has helped her go and she seems to be doing a little better but her bottom is still swollen. Is there anything I can do to help her with that or will it eventually go down on it's own?
Thanks ahead for any help on this issue.
Theresa

Hi :welcome Theresa

Glad you could join us here! The swelling should go down, pasty butt sure can strain them so keeping an eye on her and making sure she does not clogged up anymore and it all should settle down. You could also try some apple cider vinegar in their water as this can help with pasty butt.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your chicks in the future. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Thanks!
Yes, I am trying that too!
I put 2 teaspoons of Braggs ACV in 1 gallon of water and have been filling their waterer with it. I was thinking it shouldn't hurt the others to have some.
Is that a right amount of ACV per gallon for baby chicks?

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best
