Just wanted to say hi to all you gals and guys. Been a long time BYC reader, registered only yesterday to ask a question.

We live in Kirkland, Washingon, and we had 2 chickens (RIRs) 3 years before they were even legal in our city :)

I am 43, male, my daughters are the 'chicken girls' - they are 13, 10 and 3. My wife thought I was crazy to turn our backyard into a roaming space for poultry, but now she is addicted to the 'final product' :) Which are: 'live' backyard and wholesome eggs.

Welcome to BYC, Greg. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. :eek:) Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. Our children and granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loved our chickens and make lap pets of the calmer and more gentle breeds. Chickens sure a fun hobby and the fresh healthy eggs sure are a bonus! I'm so glad they legalized BYCs in your area. It seems to be a growing trend toward allowing small backyard flocks in urban areas. Make yourself at home on the threads!

How nice you can legally have chickens now. And it's great everyone in the family is on board with raising chickens, that's a good family hobby with rewards (eggs and entertainment).
