(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I had chickens as a child/teenager but it was recently when I bought my first home that I decided I wanted a few for the back yard.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Only four.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Two highlines and two bantoms.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Eggs are good but I prefer their personalities and that they make good (easy) pets.

thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. There are some advice and questions above that I will try to answer. I found my state Australia in the thread - slowly we become a state of USA and the thread will help. I think we have two Buff Cochin Bantam chickens one is more white the other more apricot in colour. The white one is wiser and more friendly the other a little paranoid and cautious. I am not exactly sure if they are cochin but they are smaller than the Brahmas - I think. I really like that photo above so I think I will include some here too. I cast my vote as to how I came here - housing, food and I guess breeds a little too. I've been to the site a few times but I joined to get some opinions on soaking feed - which I am getting. Glad I did join.
