I am new here, I am thinking of getting a few (I think we can have up to 4) chickens. Many questions, how do I keep them warm in the Winter, best way to keep them safe from predators, best breed for newbies, etc, etc.

As for keeping them warm in the winter, you never add heat to a coop. Chickens are quite capable of keeping themselves alive and warm even in temps well below zero. Make SURE to add adequate vent space in your eaves to air off all moisture the birds will produce, keep the coop dry and huge draft free and they will thrive year round.

I just got back from town "feed store" and saw a box of Barred Rock chicks on the counter, someone was buying. So cute it almost hurt! Brought a big smile to my face!

the store only sells NPIP chicks. So I'm thinking that buyer is safe to have those cuties!
