I’ve been raising hens for eggs just one year now.
We live in West Bridgewater MA. We have 20 hens and 5 Roosters and 6 ducks only three are hens. We inherited a very large hen house when we bought out home ans property. But we only fixed it up
Last summer and moved out new chicks and ducklings inside. We got our hens and ducks from mail order and the Tracktor supply store. This year we are hatching our own chicks in a incubator with 41 chick eggs Inside
Our mama mallard duck is sitting on a clutch of eggs inside the hen house. We have nearly 5 acres of trees so the hens and rosters and ducks love to free range. I love the duck eggs. Our blue Swedish hens lay two a day and they are not Broodie at all they lay them anywhere. But there great to cook with and taste amazingly better than the chicken eggs do. They make cakes and bread raise better too.
