hi

[Please help me]

i have 6 Heratige-x chicks about 8 weeks old and i was looking for some help tranfering them and getting them ready to go into the big coop not their brooder box- any suggestions?

Put them in the coop with food and water for at least 3 days before letting them go into the predator proof run.

wow.... OK that was quick i was expecting to have to wait AAAAGES but no!! aparently not! lucky me! we are letting them out every day into the coop and run then bringing them into their brooder box overnight, the brooder is on our garage just outside the backdoor, they have the whole setup we just put them outside a few weeks ago because they started to stink! do you think they are ready to go into the coop all the time or should we wait a bit? or try to put the heat lamp into the coop? i am worried about them in the cold (its winter in perth- not super cold but cold enough to need a jumper) i dont want them to DIE!
im just a worried chicken mama,

Hello, and welcome to BYC. Depending upon how cold your evenings are a huddle box might be a good idea. Move them out 'full time'.
