I am in the UK. Brand new to chickens nad now an accidental new batman oner. Was planning to hatch orpnigton buffs to a few days old to have chicks at Easter then home to neighbour, but got some bantam eggs when borrowed incubator. They seemed kinda cute and when hatched my 3 daughters and I kind of fell in love a bit especially as 1 needed assistance. So plan is to have batams in the back garden, but still very much up in the air as one now ill as not sure how many will be cockerels and how that will work and hope they don't cause trouble in the garden or with neighbours and I can keep them safe from foxes. Joined as used this site lots already. I have a degree in animal science and always worked with animals; I train dogs but only kept rodents as pets before. Really not sure this was a good idea!!!

Welcome to BYC. Have you built your coop and run? Chicken keeping is much less stressful, when you have a predator proof palace for them.
