Hi ladies and gents! We are just starting to raise quails and an unfortunate event occurred. A mink got into our cages and killed all 33 of them. We got a little lucky since we started saving some of the eggs and now they are hatching. We completely rebuilt our cages making it off the ground and it's been fortified with 3/4 heavy plywood. It's about 3 and a half feet high and the legs are wrap in tool..

I hope it will help protect our animals. Any more suggestions?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So sorry for your losses! :hugs Everything eats Quail, never use chicken wire on any external parts of pens, cages or aviaries. Hardware cloth only, build everything sturdy. Make sure nothing can dig, pry, chew or shove their way in. I kept my Quail in ground level aviaries so I can't be of much help with cages, however if your floors are wire, predators can reach up and chew off feet so no exposed open wire bottoms.

Good luck with your Quail!

Welcome to BYC. Thats a hard loss, all your quail... A weasel or a mink can fit through a one inch hole--about the size of a quarter--so you'll want to go over your coop and make sure that any holes this size or larger are sealed in some way. Another key aspect of predator proofing your coop is to have the proper closures.
yes please post pictures :)
