Chirping
Hey there everyone!
I've been on here for a little bit now but I did want to "formally" introduce myself and my flock!
My husband and I are in NC and have a flock of eight hens, and three 5 week old EE pullets!
My chickens are definitely friends with benefits and are quite spoiled
They get inside time every now and then and they love snuggles (everyone but my favorite hen, Laverne, she doesn't like hands lol)
My favorite breed is the Easter Egger, I love watching them all change colors so many times! It's exciting to get a little chipmunk chick and watch to see what she'll end up looking like fully grown!
We currently have two Barred Rocks, Daphne and Darla, one Silver Laced Wyandotte, Buttercup (my little sister named her
), one Bielevelder, Esther, who's just recently stopped being broody (hallelujah!), and four EEs, Laverne (had Shirley once, but she is no longer with us), Lydia, Sax, and Rhoda.
The babies are all three EEs, Poppy(if I didn't know any better I'd say she was part Tasmanian Devil, she girl never stops running), Roz, and Fran.
Our dog, Lady, an English Springer Spaniel, has forsaken her bird-dog instincts and loves to wrangle and herd the chickens. But don't worry, my eyes are always on them and her!
Anyway, I'm glad to be on here and thankful for all the knowledge on this site! There are no avian or farm vets around me that see chickens so this is my first stop when anything's wrong!
Happy chicken keeping!
