I am new to the "chicken" world past a 2 week age, but work at a store that has them every year, and always bring the injured or sick home to care for. Return, and they get homes.
This year, my husband and I have decided to take in hens. I wanted 2, as one was an injured and not sellable, and she would have been too lonely. But we talked and decieded to go with 5 more hens. That brought us to 6.
Then one got pecked very badly, in the neck, and I cared for him at work, as I had used my equipment at home for my brood. Well he/she was unsellable again, so he was entered into the group. So now we are at 7.
I am loving it! I am trying to hold, talk to and spend as much time as I can with them, but am so new to this entire process, that I thought getting on a forum to talk and ask LOTS of questions was a goood idea.
I am married, for almost 29 years. I have 3 sons, and one grandson. We have one cat that was a stray that I took in. Her name is Rumely. Named after the tractor my husband has always wanted. Now I can tell him he has one
