Hi all! My name is Megan and I am from Carman, Manitoba, Canada. We have some frighteningly cold winters so I will be needing some advice on insulating my chicken coop for the upcoming winter. My 6 chicks are being picked up on the 16th of July so I have about a month to figure out how I want to organize my coop. I grew up in the city and now I live in the country so all of this is brand new to me! I am really looking forward to starting my own little flock!

Hello and welcome....so glad you joined BYC

If you havent already, check out the Coops tab at the top of the page. There are hundreds of coops pictured and some with detailed instructions for insulating and "most importantly" ventilation. Chickens fare much better in colder weather rather than in the heat. Also check out the "Where am I, Where are you" thread which can be found under the brown Forum tab at the top of the page. That way you can connect with locals to see how they are setup for the cold winter months.
