I'm getting 2 more chickens for my flock and i would like to know how long it approximately takes for them to get used to each other. I know that it's probably different for every flock but I would love to know how long it took for other people. thanks!

Welcome to BYC!

This is a really good question. As you may or may not already know chickens have pecking orders. The younger birds always seem to be on the bottom and the older ones get the say in things but when they get used to each other normally is when the pecking order is established again. The way the order goes actually may depend on breed and temperament as a new bird might keep trying to get out on top but can never find itself to be that way.

Hi, I'm new! I came home and did my chicken chores and found 2 new chicks! Our our little mottled bantam Cochin, Henrietta, has been diligently sitting! She's a fierce little mom!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! With older birds it usually takes at least a couple of weeks/month or more, young chicks it is much faster There is a nice article in the Learning Center on integrating flocks you might like to check out, the part about actually combining them is after the quarantine section https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock
