I'm not a chicken mom yet, but I have my plan and have been reading up. BYC has been my go to for answers so far. I have a bunch of regular kids, homeschool, and live in North Texas.

Welcome to the flock. When you decide to get chickens let us know. We are here 24/7. Have you visited the Learning Center, its a great introduction to chickens.

I have turned the learning center inside out. Lol It was intimidating when I first started getting educated, but I am confident at this point that I know how to get started, and where to go when I need to know something I don't. I will probably start building my coop and run next week, but I know I am still about a month or more from actually getting the hens. Thanks for the welcome!
