Hello! I'm Holly. I am new to raising chickens. My husband and I live in Vermont and live on his family property. My MIL raises layers, but has never raised birds for meat. In my research I have used this forum as a place to find my answers and finally decided to join. I currently have 65 meat birds (and 6 turkeys). I still have so many questions and look forward to reading threw post! Thanks!

Welcome to the flock. Did you know there are turkey threads at "Other Backyard Poultry," forum. And meat bird threads at well on BYC.I sure do love turkey - bigger drumsticks.

Hi :welcome Holly

Glad you could join the flock! I've never raised meat birds bu please do drop by the meat bird section as drumstick suggested ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/21/meat-birds-etc

I'm sure other Turkey keepers will be able to help you with all your turkey questions ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/66/other-backyard-poultry

Wishing you the very best of luck with your venture. Enjoy BYC :frow

I have only raised egg layers with my MIL. This is new to me, doing it solo with no help. I love those birds. We (the farm) have 4 Rhode island red, 6 barred rock, and 2 Easter eggers. We have a barred rock roo and a white lace bantam roo. My kids enjoy gathering the eggs! :)
