Today I went to collect eggs. There were none to be seen but the straw was messed up so i decided to rearrange it.
surprize ! 3 eggs hidden under the straw...one of my girls was chatting up a storm after I took the eggs.
The Northeast had a bad storm last week and us in Ct. are still trying to get power back. I was unable to get to the coop for a couple of days and the eggs sat uncollected about a day. Now, 3 days later, this behavior. None of the girls seem to be sitting in the nesting box over much so I can't tell of a chicken is going broody or not.
I'll tell you what, chickens are far more complex than people give them credit for !
