High quality birds from big hatchery stock

You would spend way more on raising the countless generations of birds to work up to a decent bird than just working with good brids from the start.

The only reason I could see for getting hatchery birds for a show line is to incorporate them into established bq or better birds to improve on fertility, color, etc.

Some, not all hatcheries will say "egg laying variaty" or "not show quality" this tells you not to waste your time. Those are barn yard birds bred for dual purpose most of the time. Other hatcheries, or birds with in a hatchery they may state "some birds may be show quaity" This tells you they are honest as not all birds are show quality even out of the same clutch.
Best thing to do is call the hatchery you are thinking about buying from and ask if they are breed type and would they meet show breed standards. Read the standard of prefection in the breed you are thinking about. Many good breeders will help you out with eggs if they think you are serious and will do the breed justice.
I really see no point in starting with hatchery stock when there are breeders willing to support and help educate even share thier own stock with you if you are serious about keeping with the breed standard and promoting the breed in a possitive light.
