Highest egg production in December?

Hi, I am in year two of owning my hens and my egg production is overwhelming during this time of year..... Dec to April and then it plummets all spring, summer and early fall. I feel like they are doing the opposite of what I expected. I use artificial light, 15 hrs per day. Right now, they eat more layer mash. In the summer they eat more greens. Could that be it?

Could be. Could also be that you have some breeds that prefer the cooler weather.

My brahmas will lay decent during the summer, but right now they are really pumping the eggs out. I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to sit on a hot nest in August in Arkansas either.
