Hi all,
Thought I'd actually introduce myself after lurking in these forums for a couple of months.
My husband and I live in south Minneapolis, so we're one of those new-fangled "chickens in the city" types. We took an awesome class (called Chickens in the City) in 2008, and decided to take the plunge this spring.
We built our coop out of 90% recycled lumber, and finished it in early June. Then we picked up six pullets -- 2 Ameraucana, 2 Gold Stars, and 2 Plymouth Barred Rocks (one of which turned out to be a rooster. Good times.).
The girls just started laying last week, while we were out of town. Our petsitter lined up the six new eggs in order of appearance for us, so we at least know when they arrived. Very exciting! We love owning these ladies, and look forward to many years of happy hens.
