My coop is almost done. Its 4x6. My problem is that the roosts will have to be across the coop. A hinged roost to allow me to walk into the coop for cleaning would be much better. A movable/removable roost would work too. Has anybody tried this?
Thanks,
Scott

I made a removeable roost for my small holding coop. I just screwed wooden blocks into a U shape on two walls and my 2 x 3 set right down into the U fairly snug. I'd just lift it out for easy access.

My roost spans the width of my coop too and is removable. We made "cradles" for the ends to sit in -- it simply lifts out for removal but the cradles keep it secure when in place.

Also, G2Shooter just posted photos of his/her hinged roost in the "unique" coops thread... here's their BYC page:

The roosts in my truck body coop/brooder house are removable. I left the e-track on the walls, screwed 2x4's to the top of the load bars and just snap them in place. Makes cleaning a breeze plus I can adjust the bars horizontally in 2" increments if needed. I also have the pop door ramp on a hinge so I can fold it up out of the way while cleaning the run.
