I am not a big time quilter so you who are probably have this worked out....

Several years ago we had a waterbed and over the mattress was one of those sort of wooly polyester mattress pads, you know the kind? I discovered that if you hang it on the wall, slap your fabric pieces up on it, they stick...and stick well!

After participating in the block swap my quilting fires have been lit again and I want to do a watercolor quilt next. It looks like the above technique will really help with the layout.

Anyway, just wanted to share.

...also if you put hang tacos over the oven rack with a cookie sheet under the rack below you won't have squished taco shells....but don't forget the cookie sheet or else you'll smoke out your oven!

...okay, NOW I'm done.

You can use the "wall" on fabric.com and I think thousandsofbolts.com has one too to put your colors/fabrics together before you buy, that helps too!

I still do all my quilting work on the floor. I've been thinking I need to do something different - old age aches and pains:(

Watercolor quilts are beautiful. I hope you share pics as you go.

I had to read what you wrote about the taco a couple of times to understand it. I'm slow this morning:rolleyes:

That is a great tip, Tammy! It sure helps with perspective and seeing what the finished project will look like, so your placement of blocks is pleasing. Thanks for the reminder!

I used a thin piece of poly batting until I needed it for a project

, then I bought a length of flannel backed tablecloth from the $1 a yard bin at JoAnns. It is 60 inches wide and I got 3 yards. The tablecloth side is butt-ugly, but it is pinned up on the wall so it doesn't show.

I have the table cloth fabric and glued it to a large roll up shade. Attached the shade to the wall and I can lower the shade when I need a design wall or roll it up out of the way when it isn't in use. Some day I will get a valance built to hide the shade and have a small shelf on the top, but it works fine the way it is now.

Thank you, I have been lurking around, just not much to say I guess

and limited time for crafting. But I always check out the hobby section and see what everyone is working on and hope that I have a little more time this winter. A girl can dream, can't she?
