Hiya, from South Georgia!

Is that Cedar bedding? Replace it with pine shavings if it is, cedar cause respiratory problems in birds especially in a well ventilated area.

Welcome to BYC!

Thank you for you're post and the caution given. It is eastern cedar. I am well aware of the pros and cons surrounding cedar and various other wood products that may be harmful. At this time the coop is nicely ventilated and the layer of bedding looks much deeper than what it is. Foam knee padding material lies underneath. to be remove once they get a bit older. I am also aware that what works for some does not work for others. My intentions are to rotate different bedding in an effort to ascertain what works best for me and my flock. Thank you again for the advice, and I will certainly keep it in mind.:)
